Bible Truth

Basic Bible Course

Letter for Lessons 21 - 22

Dear Student

On receiving these last two lessons, you will have completed the first Bible Correspondence Course. The lessons focus on living according to the Word.

Lesson 21 teaches us that a Christian should obey the government of the country in which he lives. Disobedience is only justified when the laws force us to disobey the Word of God. Being citizens of the Kingdom of God, Christians do not give their loyalty to the present nations because their goals are fundamentally egostic. Each nation tries to promote it's own interest not concerned how another country may be affected. The Kingdom of God will be a government of justice where the interests of all peoples will be taken into account. Thus the Christian does not participate in politics because his citizenship is not of this world. Nowadays the worst conduct is at its lowest. In some countries half of those who get married end up being divorced. There are many more who do not worry about getting married but simply live together. While everyone is accepting more and more these norms, the Christian must live according to the norms which God gives us in the Bible.

Lesson 22 emphasises how the new life of a Christian must be distinct from his past life when he would behave according to the practices of the world. In the same way as the Israelites had to leave the practices of Egypt to enter into the promised land, likewise Christians must leave their worldly practices to enter into the Kingdom of God. The tragedy was that the majority of the Israelites did not take Egypt from their hearts and did not reach the promised land (Acts 7:39, Hebrews 3:7-19) Let us pray that this does not happen to us.

Once you have completed and returned your 6 Question Sheets of the 22 lesson Course for correction - you may wish to continue with our 12 lesson Advanced Course (one lesson per month). We do require the student to answer as regularly as possible. Please do not hesitate to write to us if you have any biblical queries.

Regards, by grace in the Lord Jesus.
