Bible Truth

Basic Bible Course

Letter for Lessons 17 - 20

Dear Student

We hope that all is well with you on receiving this fifth set of lessons and that the Lord is blessing you in your studies.

Lesson 17 deals with the theme which is causing much controversy nowadays: the Holy Spirit gifts. Some believe they have the power to speak in tongues and heal diseases. Nevertheless, there are differences between what we see today and what was done in the first century. In this lesson you will begin to see what the Bible has to say in this respect. Without the cross and the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ there would be no hope. By means of Lesson 18 you will learn what Jesus Christ won on the cross. Does the Devil exist? The Bible clearly mentions it - but, is it true that there is a god of evil which is against men and women, trying to take them away from the true God? This theme will be investigated in Lesson 19. Nowadays many believe that baptism is not necessary. Even some Baptists believe that you do not need to be baptised to be saved. Lesson 20 will serve to show that there are biblical proofs that baptism is indeed necessary. Although many churches sprinkle the little children, you will see that this is not the baptism the Bible speaks about. Baptism is not only a ritual with water but a step that one takes after one believes in the gospel. Thus only adults are baptised in the New Testament.

After these four lessons, only two more remain to complete the first course. Remember to always ask for God's blessing on your studies.

May God be with you!

Regards, by grace in the Lord Jesus.
