Basic Bible Course

Letter for Lessons 1 - 4

Dear Student

We are extremely pleased that you have applied to receive the Bible Correspondence Course, which we are certain will be of great benefit to you. This Bible Course begins with the first four lessons herewith enclosed. It is our sincere hope that it will help you in your study of the Bible. There are 22 lessons in total and each one contains important lessons. Each lesson is divided into three parts:

[1] The reading of certain chapters of the Bible;
[2] The reading of the lesson;
[3] The answering of the questions on the lesson. It is our sincere hope that through your diligent study and application you will be able to find "the golden thread" which links up the Old and New Testaments in order to give us the precious Hope of Salvation.

Each month you will receive a set of four lessons, one for each week. Each set is accompanied by a question sheet which we ask you please to complete and return to us with the coupon below., if possible, before the end of each month. Your answer sheets will be corrected and returned to you with the new set of lessons - thus you will be able to see how you are progressing and we will be able to help you with any queries you may have.

Everyone has their own particular way of studying; but we earnestly suggest you feel sure you have properly understood one lesson before going onto the next. It is true that the study of these lessons will take a bit of your time; let's say 15 minutes each day for the Bible readings and one hour each week to read the lesson and answer the questions.

Very soon you will find that the Bible is such an interesting book that gradually you will want to spend more and more time with it. The Bible is full of interesting things but this is not everything; it is the Word of God. We must therefore go to the Bible and ask God to help us to understand His teachings. Here is an example of prayer: "Lord, I thank thee for the privilege of the reading of your Word. Help me to understand its teachings and to put them into practice."

Thus by reading the Bible daily, and making the effort to understand it, not only will we be more sure that it is the Word of God but we will feel its effect on us, changing our lives and making us better people.

With the things of God, there is no one higher or lower than the other and we are sure you will agree that it would not be right for us to offer a certificate at the end of the course. Only God knows our heart and He will give us, by His Grace, our due reward at the last day. We truly look forward to corresponding with you and may God bless your efforts in coming to the knowledge of His plan and purpose with mankind.

Regards, by grace in the Lord Jesus,

The Christadelphians

C E R T I F I C A T E S

We have frequently been asked if there is a certificate at the end of the course. As Christadelphians (Brethren in Christ), we believe that the things of God are much above the things of men. Certificates are for this world, they do not give us a pass into the Kingdom of God. Jesus commanded that :

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

So having repented and been baptised into Christ in the understanding of his death and resurrection, then : "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptised into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye are all Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:26-29)

Once baptised we become heirs to the promises which will be fulfilled at the return of our true King - the Lord Jesus Christ. While we await this great day - we will live our lives according to the two great commandments he gave us: "The Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these". (Mark 12:29-31)

We live in hope of that great day when we shall be called to the judgment. May we receive the TRUE CERTIFICATE - that our name may be written in the Book of Life and that by God's grace we may be given eternal life and enter His Glorious Kingdom.

Our Hope is to hear those words :
"Well done, good and faithful servant ... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." (Matthew 25:23) May God guide you as you increase in the knowledge and wisdom of His most Holy Word, and in your most important decision - to put on Christ.
